App UZH now

Emergency alert with UZH now

In case of an emergency, UZH can alert and inform you with the UZH now. And it even does this specifically for a certain location, e.g. for all UZH members who are at the Irchel campus. This even works worldwide, which is important for research stays, for example.

Important: Allow the UZH app to access your location.

In order for the UZH app "UZH now" to alert and inform you in an emergency according to your location, the app needs the location data of your smartphone.

Therefore, please allow the UZH app "UZH now" access to the location information on your smartphone.

How does the emergency alert work?

Data processing uzh now
Location data is only processed on your mobile phone: This is how the emergency alert works. (Illustration in German by Nhi Pham)

In the event of an emergency, all devices that have UZH now installed are notified. However, the information is only displayed to those users who are in the vicinity of the emergency and have activated push notifications.

UZH now does not track your location and does not store any corresponding data. This location data remains exclusively on your smartphone; it is not forwarded to a server, neither at UZH nor elsewhere. The solution complies with data protection regulations and has been approved by the UZH data protection officer.
